David Hannah Agent of Change

By the Staff of Metal Center News

David Hannah, 65, executive chairman of Los Angeles-based Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., retired in July after a long and distinguished career. Under his leadership, Reliance grew from a $400 million regional player to a $10 billion giant with service centers in 39 states and 13 countries. Hannah spent time with MCN Editors Tim Triplett and Dan Markham reflecting back on his time at Reliance and the many industry changes he has witnessed. Indeed, it could be argued, he and his company were responsible for some of those changes. Following is an edited transcript.
