ASD Honors AK Steel's Wainscott as Captain of Industry

The Association of Steel Distributors has named James L. Wainscott, chairman, president and CEO of AK Steel, as the recipient of its Captain of Industry Award. This honor recognizes individuals who have exhibited exemplary vision, extraordinary leadership and everlasting influence in the advancement of the steel industry.

The ASD Board of Directors will officially recognize Wainscott at a black-tie event Saturday, Oct. 26, during the ASD Fall Conference in Las Vegas.

Now in his 32nd year of service in the steel industry, Wainscott joined AK Steel in 1995. In addition to his leadership at AK Steel, he serves as chairman of the Steel Market Development Institute.

Wainscott is the third recipient of the ASD Captain of Industry. Previous recipients include Steel Dynamics Chairman Keith Busse and Dan DiMicco, executive chairman of Nucor.
