Red Bud to Host Coil Processing Seminar, Plant Tour

Red Bud Industries will host a Coil Processing Seminar Sept. 12 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Chesterton, Ind. Attendees will learn about blanking, multi-blanking, leveling, slitting and the EPS process for hot-roll black material, plus receive instruction on how to apply new technology, improve tolerances, produce optimum flatness in material and maximize overall efficiency.

Featured speakers include Dean Linders, vice president of marketing and sales for Red Bud Industries; Tom Hazen, formerly of Herr-Voss and now a consultant to the metals processing industry; Al Zelt, a leading expert in slitting technology; and Red Bud’s Jeff Herrell, who works with companies to provide solutions for their coil processing issues.

The seminar will conclude with a tour of Ratner Steel in Portage, where attendees will be able to view a Red Bud heavy-gauge cut-to-length line with stretcher leveler in operation. The new 77-inch by 0.500-inch by 80,000-pound line is designed to operate in two different modes. For running thicker plate, the line operates in start/stop mode. For thinner material, the line runs in a looping mode where production speeds can be increased by as much as 80 percent.
