IPPC Finishing Upgrade to Port of Indiana Operation
Indiana Pickling and Processing Co., a joint venture between Feralloy Corp., and Signode Corp., is completing a $7 million capital project. The last phase of the investment will upgrade IPPC’s ability to pickle higher gauge coils.
The pickling line was reconfigured to increase the capacity to pickle coils up to 0.750 inch by 72 inch A36 grade. Quality and productivity are being enhanced with new pre-cleaning and leveling capabilities, the company claims.
As part of the project, IPPC also invested in a new building to store 30,000 tons of material. IPPC will have the capacity to offer a storage-pickling combination service for customers that buy large steel coil lots from steel mills located in the Midwest Region. Indiana Pickling is based in the Port of Indiana facility in Portage, Ind.
