Kloeckner Metals to Consolidate Four Facilities
Kloeckner Metals, Roswell, Ga., plans to reorganize and consolidate a number of its facilities. Kloeckner is North America’s third-largest service center company, with 55 locations and 2012 sales of more than $3.5 billion.
As part of its consolidation effort, Kloeckner will close its Bensalem, Pa., facility, moving inventory and equipment to its operations in York, Pa., and New Castle, Del.
On the West Coast, Kloeckner will close facilities in Portland, Oakland, and Los Angeles. The Los Angeles branch will be consolidated with the company’s plate-processing facility in nearby Santa Fe Springs. Kloeckner will also install new plate processing equipment at its Tulare, Calif., operation to accommodate the business that had been processed in Oakland.
"These changes eliminate duplication in capacity, streamline our supply chain, and provide a broader product offering to better service our customer base in these respective regions. It is our intent that these changes will be seamless to our customers with no interruption in service," said Bill Partalis, chief executive officer of Kloeckner Metals.
Kloeckner’s nationwide pipe and tube distribution network will not be affected by the changes.
Kloeckner intends to have the consolidations completed and the affected locations fully operational in their new configuration by the end of 2013.
