Olympic Steel Inc., Cleveland, has appointed John Howard to the newly created position of director, operational excellence. Howard, who has been serving in a consulting role with the company, will be responsible for the strategic development, tactical program management, facility deployment, systems integration and financial results consistent with operational excellence. Additionally, Zach Siegal has been promoted to general manager and Matthew Kupusta has been promoted to purchasing manager of the company's Cleveland facility. Siegal had been purchasing and materials manager at the company's Gary, Ind., facility, while Kupusta had been an outside sales representative for the Eastern Region.
Mark Sowka has been appointed vice president of engineered products by Chicago Tube and Iron Co., Romeoville, Ill. He will oversee the North Carolina-based Power division and the Industrial Boiler and General Line Fabrication divisions, both based in Romeoville. Additionally, CTI has hired Barry Pickart as a new outside sales representative for the Quad Cities division.
Pamela Bridgeman has joined Alloy Metals and Tubes International, Houston, as vice president of sales. Bridgeman, who has more than 25 years of experience in the metals business, will be responsible for leading the company sales team’s training and development.
Chicago-based Rolled Metal Products has appointed Steven E. Pearce as general manager. Before joining Rolled Metal Products, Pearce served in a similar capacity for A.M. Castle and Ryerson.
Mid-America Stainless LLC, Cleveland, has promoted Katherine Kosik to director of sales. Kosik, who joined the company in 2006, will extend her responsibilities to oversee all sales activities in North America.
Bob Peppoff has joined Peoria, Ill.-based O'Brien Steel Service as product manager. Peppoff has extensive experience in the high-strength plate market.
O'Neal Steel Inc., Birmingham, Ala., has announced the appointment of Lee Ann Daniels as senior human resources manager. She will lead the O'Neal Steel HR Business Partner team, as well as training, development and recruiting.
