Benjamin Steel Acquires Byer's Structural Steel Division

Benjamin Steel Co. Inc., a Springfield, Ohio, service center, has purchased the structural steel division of Byer Steel Group, Cincinnati. The new company, Frederick Steel, will continue to operate at its current Cincinnati address as a wholly owned subsidiary of Benjamin Steel.

“We have considered the strategy of growth through acquisition for years, and we are very pleased that the opportunities for growth with this acquisition are tremendous when considering our combined strengths,” says Nick Demana, president of Benjamin Steel.

Frederick Steel will sell, process and deliver carbon steel products in the same manner the Byer division has for years. Frederick Steel and Benjamin Steel have complementary product lines, benefitting customers and providing a strong combined purchasing power, executives claim.

Other Byer Steel operations will see no change. The rebar mill, rebar sales and fabrication division, and scrap metal recycling operations remain under Byer Steel ownership and operation.

“Our sale of the structural steel division will enable us to focus our attention and resources on our rebar and recycling divisions as we look toward future growth,” says Burke Byer, president and CEO of Byer Steel.
