Kelly Pipe to Relocate Chicago Operations

Pipe distributor Kelly Pipe plans to relocate its Chicago-area operation to a larger facility. The company has acquired a 90,000-square-foot building on nine acres in Markham, Ill., about three miles from its current location in South Holland. Renovation of the building is expected to be complete by April 1.

The new facility will give the company more space for storage both inside and out. Kelly Pipe is considering adding threading and saw cutting at the new facility. It currently plasma cuts to length and grooves pipe ends at the South Holland location, which the company has leased for the past seven years.

"Initially, it will give us the ability to store more product, and store it more efficiently. Right now, we're compressed both with our people in the office and inventory-wise in the yard," says Cullen King, vice president of Kelly's Eastern Region.
