Steel Technologies de Mexico Adds Five Processing Lines

Steel Technologies de Mexico has added five new Red Bud Industries' processing lines, four of which were installed at the company's greenfield site in Pesqueria, NL, Mexico. The fifth line was installed at a new greenfield site in Celaya, GTO, Mexico. Steel Technologies de Mexico already operates two Red Bud processing lines at its Ciudad Juarez facility.

The new lines consist of a 0.135-inch by 72-inch precision multi-blanking line, two 0.187-inch by 72-inch high-speed slitting lines, a 0.500-inch by 72-inch heavy gage slitting line and a 0.500-inch by 72-inch EPS acidless pickle line.

The multi-blanking line is capable of processing cold-rolled, galvanized, prepainted, and hot-rolled pickled and oiled material at coil weights up to 60,000 pounds with length and width tolerances of plus or minus 0.005 inch. The slitting lines are capable of processing cold-rolled, galvanized, prepainted, and HR P&O material at coil weights up to 60,000 pounds at production speeds up to 1,200 feet per minute.

The slitting line is capable of processing CRS and HRS material at coil weights up to 70,000 pounds. The multi-cell EPS coil line is capable of surface treating HRS material at coil weights up to 70,000 pounds.

Steel Technologies de Mexico is part of Steel Technologies LLC, headquartered in Louisville, Ky. Steel Technologies LLC is owned by NUMIT LLC, a 50-50 joint venture between Nucor Corp. and Mitsui & Co. Inc.
