China continued to expand its production share, which is approaching 50 percent. Stainless steel production in China increased by 18 percent to 19 million tons.

In the Americas, stainless steel production increased by 3.6 percent to 2.5 million tons.

In Western Europe and Africa, production decreased by 4.3 percent year-on-year to 7.5 million tons. In Central and Eastern Europe, stainless production grew by 13.6 percent to 400,000 tons.
