Red Metal Imports, Exports Climb in June
 
U.S. imports and exports of brass mill products increased in June compared with the corresponding 2013 period, reports the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council in Washington. Imports of brass mill products totaled 47.2 million pounds, an increase of 5 percent, while exports grew 7.2 percent to 22.0 million pounds.

For the year to date through June, imports were grew 10.9 percent to 272.5 million pounds, while exports dipped 2.8 percent to 130.2 million pounds.

Mexico was the leading destination for U.S. exports in June at 7.1 million pounds, followed by Canada at 6.5 million pounds, South Korea at 1.5 million pounds, China at 838,628 pounds and Hong Kong at 831,932 pounds.

Imports from Germany in June totaled 10.1 million pounds, followed by South Korea at 7.5 million pounds, Mexico at 4.8 million pounds, China at 4.5 million pounds and Canada at 4.3 million pounds.

Imports of all copper and brass sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 14.3 million pounds, while exports of those products totaled 9.1 million pounds. Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 17.8 million pounds, while pipe and tube exports totaled 4.3 million pounds. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 11.3 million pounds, while exports totaled 6.3 million pounds.
