Steel Mill Shipments Above 2013
 
U.S. steel mills shipped 8.3 million tons of steel in June, down 1.3 percent from the previous month, but up 6.2 percent from the same month in 2013, reports the American Iron and Steel Institute in Washington. Shipments for the year to date totaled 48.8 million tons, a 2.9 percent increase compared to the prior year.

A comparison of June shipments to the previous month shows the following changes: hot-dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 0.1 percent; hot-rolled sheet, down 2 percent; and cold-rolled sheet, down 4 percent.
