Specialty Metals Buys Thomson Assets

Toll processor Specialty Metals Processing Inc. has purchased the equipment of Thomson Steel Polishing, Chicago. TSP President Ron Fisher has decided to retire and close the business after 52 years.

Specialty Metals will acquire 13 abrasive belt polishing/grinding machines from Thomson. During the next few months, SMP will relocate equipment from Chicago to its Stow, Ohio, operation for installation.

The new equipment will expand SMP’s capabilities and capacity. With the addition of this equipment, SMP claims it will have the largest offering of abrasive belt grinding/polishing in one location in the United States. SMP also offers slitting, cut-to-length and coil buffing.
