Nebraska Governor OKs new Keystone Route
Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman has approved a new state route for the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline, giving project supporters new hope for its passage.
"Governor Heineman's decision is another positive step that we hope will clear the way for final approval of the Keystone XL pipeline by President Obama. The pipeline is an immediate job creator—its construction will create tens of thousands of manufacturing and construction jobs, plus significantly more indirect 'spin-off' jobs," says National Association of Manufacturers Vice President of Energy and Resources Policy Ross Eisenberg.
Access to affordable energy sources is critical to manufacturers' ability to compete in the growing global marketplace, NAM contends, and the Keystone XL pipeline will provide manufacturers with another valuable energy source from a neighboring ally. "We urge President Obama to approve the Keystone XL pipeline as soon as possible to help get Americans back to work," Eisenberg says.
