U.S. Steel Shipments Increase in July
 
U.S. mills shipped 8.5 million net tons of steel in July, a 2.4 percent increase from the previous month and 2.6 percent higher than July 2013, reports the Washington-based American Iron and Steel Institute. For the year to date, shipments totaled 57.3 million tons, a 2.9 percent increase from 2013.

A comparison of July shipments to the previous month shows hot-rolled sheet up 3.0 percent, cold-rolled sheet down 0.2 percent and hot-dipped galvanized sheets and strip down 0.4 percent.
