AK Steel Completes Blast Furnace Work at Ashland

AK Steel has completed the reline of the blast furnace hearth at its Ashland Works in Kentucky. The blast furnace has returned to full production following a four-week maintenance outage.

The capacity of the furnace is now significantly above pre-outage levels, says James L. Wainscott, chairman, president and CEO. "We are very pleased that the Ashland blast furnace is back on-line and operating well. Completion of this outage helps position us to serve our customers’ needs for years to come."
