Brass Mill Imports, Exports Decline in February
 
U.S. imports and exports of brass mill products declined in February 2015 compared with the corresponding 2014 period, reports the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council in Washington. Imports of 34.0 million pounds were down 11 percent from February 2014, while exports declined 2.6 percent to 20.8 million pounds.

For the first two months of 2015, imports of brass mill products totaled 74.1 million pounds, a decrease of 4.8 percent. Exports fell 2.6 percent to 41.1 million pounds.

Mexico was the leading destination for U.S. exports of brass mill products in February at 8.9 million pounds, followed by Canada at 5.2 million pounds, Saudi Arabia at 751,480 pounds, China at 685,236 pounds and Hong Kong at 632,127 pounds.

Imports from Germany in February totaled 7.3 million pounds, followed by South Korea at 5.5 million pounds, Mexico at 5.1 million pounds, Canada at 3.5 million pounds and Peru at 2.4 million pounds.

Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 9.4 million pounds, while exports of those products totaled 8.1 million pounds. Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 12.9 million pounds, while pipe and tube exports totaled 3.2 million pounds. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 9.0 million pounds, while exports totaled 7.5 million pounds.
