Majestic Adds Slitter at Houston Facility

Majestic Steel continues to upgrade operations at Flat Rolled Steel, the Houston-based service center company it acquired in 2013. The company’s latest addition is a 72-inch Braner/Loopco triple turret head, single-loop slitting line. The slitter is currently being assembled at Majestic's Houston location. Production is slated to begin in August, though Majestic's sales team is already taking orders for slit product.

"We truly believe this machinery will offer immense value for our customer base and allow us to expand our high-quality prime offerings in Texas and beyond,” says Augie Neff, Majestic's general manager for the Southwest Division.

The slitter will accept 60,000-pound master coils with 20- and 24-inch IDs, and deliver 78-inch OD slit coils with 20- and 24-inch IDs. In addition, the machine has the capacity to slit 60,000-pound by 72-inch-wide bare and coated carbon steel coil in gauges from 0.010- to 0.250-inch with mechanical properties ranging to 80,000 psi at processing speeds to 1,000 fpm.
