Brass Mill Imports, Exports Decline in June
U.S. imports and exports of brass mill products declined in June compared with the corresponding 2014 period, reports the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council in Washington. Imports of brass mill products totaled 44.1 million pounds, a decrease of 6.6 percent, while exports declined 0.2 percent to 21.9 million pounds.
For the first half of 2015, imports of brass mill products totaled 272.5 million pounds, a 4.1 percent decrease. Year-to-date exports of 129.1 million were down 1.0 percent compared to 2014.
Mexico was the leading destination for U.S. exports of brass mill products in June at 8.7 million pounds, followed by Canada at 5.6 million pounds, China at 1.4 million pounds, Saudi Arabia at 1.2 million pounds and South Korea at 1.1 million pounds.
Imports from Germany in June totaled 10.3 million pounds, followed by South Korea at 6.3 million pounds, Mexico at 5.3 million pounds, Canada at 4.2 million pounds and Peru at 2.7 million pounds.
Imports of all copper and brass sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 14.0 million pounds, while exports of those products totaled 7.4 million pounds. Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 15.3 million pounds, while pipe and tube exports totaled 5.0 million pounds. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 11.0 million pounds, while exports totaled 7.4 million pounds.
