People on the Move

Vernon Abel has been hired as the new company president for Bushwick Metals, Bridgeport, Conn. Abel has more than 25 years of experience in the steel industry at the distribution and mill levels. Bushwick Metals is a subsidiary of Marmon Distribution Services.

Lynn Rodriguez, Central Steel & Wire Co., has been awarded the Volunteer of the Year from the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Women in the Metals Industries. Rodriguez works in the specialty metals department for the service center company.

Ken Wallewein will succeed Don White as president of Apex Distribution, a Russel Metals company based in Western Canada. Wallewein joined the company in 2004 and was most recently appointed president of Apex Western Fiberglass. White, one of the founders of Apex Distribution, will retire on Dec. 31.

Rick Hart has been promoted to process improvement manager by Schupan & Sons, Inc., Kalamazoo, Mich.

Chris Prodoehl has been promoted to vice president, information technology, at Chicago Tube & Iron, Romeoville, Ill.
