Triple-S Buys Maas-Hansen Steel

Triple-S Steel Holdings, Houston, has acquired the assets of Maas-Hansen Steel Corp. Maas-Hansen, a specialist in processing light-gauge steel and aluminum sheet products, has facilities in Vernon and Fontana, Calif.

“Initially, we were attracted to Maas-Hansen because their Fontana facility is directly next door to ours. Our product lines are complementary, and we are really excited about the possibilities of providing an ever-more complete package to the customers of both companies,” says Kevin Dempsey, senior vice president of Triple-S.

Founded in 1929, Maas-Hansen operates two levelers, two shears and a blanking line at its Vernon operation, as well as a slitter, shear and blanking line at Fontana. It has 50 employees at its two facilities.

“After much deliberation, the shareholders of Maas-Hansen Steel, an 86-year-old, family-owned business, are delighted that the loyal employees of Maas-Hansen Steel will now be part of the family of businesses owned by the very successful and growing Triple-S Steel, owned and managed by the Stein family,” says a statement from directors Gary Wolfe and Don Matso on behalf of Maas-Hansen.

Triple-S Steel is North America’s 18th largest steel service center company, now operating 25 stocking locations in nine U.S. states and Colombia.
