Steel Warehouse to Open Brazilian JV

Steel Warehouse will open its first facility in South America through a joint venture with Brazil’s Cisa Trading. The operation, expected to open in February, will be a 50-50 joint venture between the two companies.

The new business, Steel Warehouse Cisa, will be located in Paulinia, near Sao Paolo. It will process steel coils for the South American market, with a temper mill cut-to-length line eventually planned for the facility.

Steel Warehouse President Dave Lerman said customer requests for a presence in Brazil drove him to look into the market, where he searched for a proper partner. He describes Cisa as an “honest company with a good reputation, and they understand the Brazilian market. We think it’s a good partnership.”

Steel Warehouse is the 13th-largest service center company in North America. It maintains 11 facilities in the United States, plus another in Mexico.
