Mill Steel Acquires S&S Steel Services

Mill Steel Co., Grand Rapids, Mich., has expanded its product breadth and geographic presence with the acquisition of S&S Steel Services, Inc., Anderson, Ind. S&S is a supplier of carbon flat-rolled steels serving a broad array of manufacturing customers in the Midwest, Mid-South and South Atlantic regions.

Mill Steel will continue steel slitting and cut-to-length operations at S&S Steel Services’ 215,000-square-foot processing facility. Certain members of the company's leadership and commercial teams will remain in place. Mill Steel expects to install additional processing equipment at S&S and add as many as 20 sales and production jobs.

The strategic acquisition will support Mill Steel's growing automotive, construction, home appliance, agriculture and HVAC business in the southeastern U.S. and Mexico, executives say. Mill Steel Chairman and CEO David S. Samrick says the acquisition is a mutually beneficial transaction for Mill Steel and the employees, suppliers and customers of S&S. Mill Steel is North America’s 22nd-largest service center company.
