Equipment Failure Halts Production at Olin Brass Operation

Olin Brass temporarily halted production at its East Alton, Ill., production facility due to an equipment failure. The malfunction on an intermediate segment of the integrated copper and brass mill stopped production in early May, with an expected restart in early June.

Olin Brass customers may experience a temporary disruption in supply, with possible adjustments to their delivery schedules, the company announced. To mitigate disruptions in supply, the Olin Brass management team is working with customers and has secured support from other strip industry participants.

The disruption is not expected to have a material effect on the company’s full-year shipments forecast at 510-545 million pounds.
