Novelis Commissions Third Auto Line at Oswego

Novelis has commissioned a third automotive finishing line at its Oswego, N.Y., mill. The line will support increased demand for aluminum sheet from the North American automotive industry.

The line represents a $120 million investment to expand Novelis’ supply of tailored, lightweight, aluminum solutions for the auto market. It follows a previous expansion at Oswego completed in 2013. All total, the company has spent about $400 million on auto-related upgrades.

"Automakers are seeking alternative materials to cut vehicle weight while maintaining strength and safety.
