CMC Sells Australian Service Center

Steel producer Commercial Metals Co. has agreed to sell its last steel distribution asset in Australia. The company will sell its G.A.M. Steel Pty. Ltd. wholly owned subsidiary to an undisclosed buyer.

G.A.M. Steel is a 60-year-old, 290,000-square-foot service center located in Melbourne, Victoria. It distributes and processes primarily long products. Details of the sale, including the identity of the acquiring company, were not released. Irving, Texas-based CMC expects the transaction to close in July.
