Heidtman Expands Cleveland Pickle Line

Heidtman Steel, Toledo, Ohio, has expanded the services at its Cleveland plant to include dry lube capability on its existing pickling line. The addition marks the third upgrade Heidtman has made to the line, following the introduction of a break roll unit in 2013 and a hydraulic leveler in 2011.

Dry lube is a dry film lubricant used mainly for deep draw stamping applications and is applied on the pickling line. Typical coating weights measure 200-400 mg per square foot, but Heidtman can apply heavier coating weights if required by the customer.

“This is the third upgrade we’ve done to this pickle line in the last five years in order to provide efficient and cost effective solutions for our customers,” says Greg Glenn, general manager of the Eastern Region.

The Cleveland pickling line’s overall capacity is 0.625 inch by 72 inches, and also is equipped with a Parsytec continuous inspection system.
