Red Metal Shipments Decrease in July

Warehouse shipments of copper and brass in July totaled about 18.3 million pounds—down about 11.5 percent compared with the previous month and the same month last year, reports the Copper and Brass Servicenter Association, Overland Park, Kan.

Service center shipments of copper products in July totaled 9.7 million pounds, down 9.6 percent from the prior month and 7.8 percent from July 2015. For the year to date, copper shipments were down 4.9 percent compared with 2015. Alloy shipments in July totaled 8.6 million pounds, down 13.4 percent from the prior month and 15.4 percent from July 2015. Year to date, alloy shipments were down 7.2 percent compared with 2015.

At 138.6 million pounds, total warehouse shipments of copper and brass for the first seven months of the year were down about 6 percent compared with the same period in 2015.
