Service Center Metals Expands Capacity

Service Center Metals plans to add a 190,000-square-foot aluminum remelt facility at its Prince George, Va., location. The addition is part of a capacity expansion for the aluminum producer. Upon completion, it will be able to produce an additional 100 million pounds of aluminum billet annually.

“It will allow us to be vertically integrated,” says SCM Chief Executive Officer Scott Kelley. “We’ll be able to produce for our own needs in terms of billet requirements and be a seller of billet into the market. This is a strategic move that will expand key operations and enable further growth.”

Service Center Metals, founded in 2002, produces a variety of aluminum products exclusively for service center customers in the United States and Canada. The new facility will include equipment from Hertwich.
