Steel Mill Shipments Decline in July

U.S. steel mills shipped 7.4 million tons of steel in July, a 3.6 percent decrease from June and down 3.2 percent from the same month in 2015, reports the American Iron and Steel Institute in Washington. Year-to-date shipments of 51.5 million tons were down 0.2 percent compared with the previous year.

A comparison of July 2016 shipments with the previous month shows the following changes: cold-rolled sheets, down 5 percent; hot-rolled sheets, down 5 percent; and hot-dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 8 percent.
