Triple-S Acquires Specialty Metals Distributor

Triple-S Steel Holdings, Houston, has acquired Metals Inc., a Tulsa-based company. Metals Inc. was acquired from Advanced Alloy Processing Corp., a subsidiary of private equity group Peak Rock Capital. “We are very pleased and excited to add the veteran team at Metals Inc. to our family of steel service centers. Stainless, aluminum and nickel alloy plates and shapes are a new product line for us to offer our customers in Houston, and their locations in Tulsa and Mobile will allow us to enter entirely new geographies. We look forward to using our existing strength to help move the company forward,” says Gary Stein, CEO of Triple-S.

Triple-S will continue to operate the new acquisition’s three locations under the Metals Inc. name. The product mix at Metals Inc. is mostly stainless steel plate, sheet and bars in various grades, plus titanium and other alloys.

“The Metals Inc. team is very excited to join the Triple-S family of companies; the people and the culture at Triple-S are a perfect match for us. As we expand the white metals business nationally, we expect the other Triple-S locations to benefit from our supplier relationships and sourcing strategies. Finally, the management teams at both companies are very seasoned and have a great deal of experience working through the details of an acquisition and the ultimate ‘blending’ of companies,” says Bill Leavelle, vice-president and general manager of Metals Inc.

Triple-S Steel is the 17th-largest service center company in North America, with 30 locations in Texas and 12 other states, plus a facility in Colombia. The company specializes in structural steel, plate and flat-rolled products.
