MSCI Scholarship Program Grows

The Metals Service Center Institute scholarship program again surpassed its previous record, providing educational assistance to more than 350 member employees’ families in 2016. Over the past year, MSCI and its chapters awarded scholarships totaling $774,750. In 2015, MSCI awarded 342 scholarships with a value of $766,500.

“The enthusiasm behind the program continues to grow each year. The organization and its chapters are committed to education at all levels for professionals in the industrial metals supply chain, ranging from online learning through professional development and Strategic Metals Management,” says M. Robert Weidner, III, MSCI president and CEO.

The scholarship program began in 2004 and was sparked by chapter enthusiasm for higher learning at both trade schools and colleges. Today, 31 chapters across the U.S. and Canada are involved. Now in its 12th year, the program has awarded more than 2,600 scholarships valued at more than $5.4 million.
