Steel Shipments Up 1.4 Percent in June

The U.S. shipped 7.7 million net tons of steel for the month of June, reported the American Iron and Steel Institute, Washington. June steel shipments were up 1 percent from May and 1.4 percent from June 2016.

Shipments of hot-dipped galvanized sheets and strip were up 1 percent from May, hot-rolled sheets saw no change and cold-rolled sheets were down 4 percent from the month prior. Through June, U.S. steel mills shipped 45.5 million net tons in 2017, a 3 percent increase over the first six months of 2016.
