Steel Shipments Up 10.3 Percent in November

U.S. steel mills shipped 7.4 million net tons of steel in November, reports the American Iron and Steel Institute. Steel shipments for the month were up 10.3 percent from November 2016 but down 3.8 percent from October.

Month-over-month shipments of cold-rolled sheets were up 1 percent, hot-rolled sheets were down 3 percent, and hot-dipped galvanized sheets and strip were down 4 percent.

Through November, the U.S. has shipped 83.6 million net tons of steel this year, a 5.3 percent increase over the first 11 months of 2016.
