Global Steel Production Climbs in 2017

Global steel production totaled 1.7 million tons in 2017, an increase of 5.3 percent compared with the previous year, reports the Brussels-based World Steel Association.

Crude steel production in North America was 116.0 million tons, up 4.8 percent from 2016. The U.S. production increased 4.0 percent to 81.6 million, Mexican production increased 6.3 percent to 20 million tons and Canadian production increased 8.3 percent to 13.7 million tons.
