KASTO Band Saw Reduces Cutting Times

KASTO, Inc., Export, Pa., offers the KASTOwin pro AC 5.6 band saw, which delivers shorter cutting times, longer tool life and intuitive operation. The fully automatic machine has a rigid welded construction to minimize vibration and is optimized for bimetallic and carbide blades. Depending on the type of blade, cutting times can be reduced by 50 percent or more, the company claims.

The saw comes with an innovative feed system that is controlled by two ball screw spindles, each with a servo drive for precise, infinitely variable control. A retraction unit on each side lifts the band from the surface when the saw head moves back, which provides for efficient, exact sawing with minimal tool wear, the company claims.

The KASTOwin pro AC 5.6 is driven by an 11-kilowatt frequency-controlled motor, which provides plenty of capacity for use with carbide blades. Its cutting range extends up to 560 millimeters. The shortest residual length is 10 millimeters for individual offcuts and 35 millimeters for automatic operation, enabling operators to keep waste to a minimum. Two electrically driven plastic brushes keep the band free of chips.
