Han-Kwang’s New 2D Laser System Improves Stability
Han-Kwang USA, Lombard, Ill., has introduced the Model PL 3015, a long-bed, 2D flying optic laser system capable of handling 60-inch wide by 120-inch long workpieces. With a long bed gantry arrangement, less motion is required on the machine, providing greater working stability and reduced maintenance requirements, Han-Kwang claims.
Model PL 3015 features rapid single-axis speed of 4,724 ipm, simultaneous X-Y axis speed of 7,900 ipm and maximum cutting speed of 1,181 ipm, all with positioning accuracies better than plus/minus 0.004 inch per 118 inches of travel and repeatability to 0.001 inch. A dual shuttle pallet system is onboard to maintain optimum productivity in processing.
This Han-Kwang laser system features a Panasonic CO2 laser resonator in 2, 2.5, 4 and 6 KW versions, as well as the builder’s patented beam radius control, which optimizes the beam diameter for various material substrates and thickness variations. An optional rotary axis is available for tube cutting up to 12-inch OD.

Microgage 2D Detects Flatness
Pinpoint Laser Systems, Peabody, Mass., has introduced a new laser-based Microgage 2D system for measuring the flatness of machinery and production equipment. This new Pinpoint Microgage 2D measures flatness of rolls, moving machinery stages, gantry systems, actuators and moving equipment to a precision of 0.0001 inch and can operate over ranges of a few inches to 120 feet, the company claims.
The new 2D can also be used for leveling and checking machinery that may be exhibiting high-wear characteristics. The 2-Axis Microgage combines a compact laser transmitter with a receiver and digital display.
As the laser moves across the receiver in a vertical or horizontal direction the display provides a reading of the motion, accurate to 0.0001 inch. The Microgage will operate over a distance of 120 feet with a bright red beam that is quickly adaptable to many industrial applications. The 2-Axis Laser Microgage operates on batteries for added convenience and all components are machined of solid aluminum with a hard anodized coating for wear resistance.

Available on select Jet waterjet cutting systems, the IKC 5-Axis waterjet cutting head is capable of making inclined cuts and controlling kerf to ensure optimal part quality.
The IKC’s capabilities include 600-degree rotation, a maximum angle of plus/minus 60 degrees, and dynamic precision from plus/minus 0.2 to 0.5 millimeters, depending on the tilt of the head.
