Bandsaws Designed for Larger Materials
A line of automatic and semi-automatic bandsaws designed to efficiently cut larger sized materials is available from Behringer Saws Inc., Morgantown, Pa. The HBP Series Bandsaws can accurately and economically cut solid forgings, slabs, profiles, molds or bundled materials up to 82.6 inches in diameter, Behringer claims.
Each saw in the HBP Series is made with strong cast-iron frame construction and a twin-column parallel downfeed design for proper saw blade tensioning to deliver forceful low-vibration cutting for smooth cuts. These large saws are available in automatic, table and gantry designs. The HBP Series Bandsaws also come with roller conveyors in the tabletop or gantry versions with a traversing saw frame for quick and efficient handling of heavy materials pre- and post-cut, the company claims.
Utilizing 3-inch width blades, these large HBP Series Bandsaws feature frequency controlled 20.1 horsepower main drive motors with a variable speed range of 27-275 surface feet per minute as the standard. Options are available for 49-443 SFM and 66-558 SFM motors.

Plate Saw Said to Combine Speed, Accuracy
The new Nishijimax NHC-SQA plate saws from Pat Mooney Saws, Addison, Ill., have been designed for both speed and accuracy, enabling users to replace three to four band saw machines, the company claims. In addition, officials say the surface finish and surface quality of the cut plate is dramatically improved compared to band sawing.
The NHC-SQA plate saws are available in two models. The NHC-850SQA is designed for traverse sawing of plate. The NHC-8310 is designed for sawing longitudinally. Both machines are fully automatic: plate is positioned and cut to an exact size simply by programming the NHC-SQA.
The NHC-850SQA can saw plate up to 3 inches thick and 24 inches wide. The NHC-8310SQA can handle plate that is 4 inches thick and 20 feet long.

Cutting System for Smaller Floor Spaces
Jet Edge, St. Michael Minn., is offering a 5-foot by 5-foot Mid Rail Gantry Waterjet System as a cutting solution for shops that cut smaller material or have limited floor space available for machine tools. Powered by a 60,000 psi or 90,000 psi Jet Edge waterjet intensifier pump, the waterjet cutting machine features an exposed 72-inch by 72-inch tank that easily accommodates overhead loading.
It is designed to cut virtually any material up to 60 inches by 60 inches. If equipped with an optional second cutting head, it can cut two parts up to 30 inches by 60 inches.
The Jet Edge Mid Rail Gantry waterjet system utilizes an industrial PC controller and can be configured so that all three axes are fully programmable (Z optional). It also features direct-couple AC brushless digital servo motors and single or double carriages.

Small Gantry System Has 3 Tools
ESAB Cutting Systems, Florence, S.C., has introduced the Falcon FXA small gantry cutting machine. The Falcon FXA features a rugged gantry design and excellent cutting performance in a low-cost, feature-packed system, ESAB claims.
The Falcon FXA comes standard-equipped with three tools, including two oxyfuel torches and one plasma, and covers a 6-foot by12-foot by working area. These process tools allow this machine to process stainless steel or aluminum plates up to 1-inch thick or carbon steel plates up to 6 inches. Plates up to 6 feet wide and up to 12 feet long can be cut on either water or downdraft cutting tables. The Falcon FXA can carry ESAB plasma systems from simple 60 amp air plasma up to 200 amp dual-gas, water-cooled plasma systems.

Tube-Cutting Laser Introduced
Han-Kwang USA, Lombard, Ill., has launched the Model TL 6015, a tube-cutting laser system capable of handling 24-foot long, 6.5-inch diameter work pieces with up to 1/4-inch wall thickness in mild steel and 0.200 inch in stainless steel. Equipped with a 2.5KW Panasonic laser and a Siemens 840D CNC to control all functions of the machine, the TL 6015 can significantly increase the tube production in any department or shop, especially when used with Han-Kwang’s proprietary Flex 3D tube-cutting software, the company claims.
The unit comprises an automatic bundle loading system with tube V-support, auto-centering rotary chucking system, laser-cutting station and automatic parts removal station. Maximum positioning speed on this new laser system is 4700 ipm for the X-axis and 120 rpm for the rotary A-axis. Max acceleration rate is 1G while the laser beam is controlled by the Han-Kwang Auto Focus Control.
