Dan Springer has been promoted to general manager of Olympic Steel’s Iowa division. Springer, an Olympic employee since 1987, had been operations manager of the company's Winder, Ga., facility.
Dwayne Gordon and Stan Kowaleski have joined the sales team for the Vista Metals Corp., Fontana, Calif. Gordon will become director of cast plate sales and Kowaleski will become regional sales manager.
Carpenter Technology Corp., Reading, Pa., has named William A. Wulfsohn president and CEO, replacing interim President and CEO Gregory A. Pratt. Wulfsohn had been a senior vice president with PPG Industries and served as a member of Carpenter’s board of directors. “Throughout Bill’s career, he has been a leader at companies known for innovative technology and best-in-class processes,” says Pratt, who will continue to serve as Carpenter’s chairman of the board. “Bill’s demonstrated leadership skills, strategic insights and international expertise from across manufacturing sectors support the company’s core growth strategies.”
AK Steel, West Chester, Ohio, has made several changes to its executive management team. David Horn has been promoted to executive vice president, general counsel and secretary; John Kaloski is now executive vice president and operating officer; and Albert Ferrara is now senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Additionally, Keith Howell is the new vice president of carbon steel operations, Kirk Reich is vice president of specialty steel operations and Roger Newport is the vice president of business planning and development. Richard S. Williams has been named controller and chief accounting officer, succeeding Newport.
Gerald W. Gagliano has been named general manager-logistics services by U.S. Steel Corp., Pittsburgh. Gagliano will be responsible for overseeing all outbound rail, barge and truck operations at U.S. Steel facilities in the United States and Canada.
David Pudelsky has joined the sales and marketing team at G&L Manufacturing, a producer of welded stainless steel, titanium, nickel and super austenitic tubing based in Cookeville, Tenn. Pudelsky has extensive experience with several North American specialty metals companies.
Robert S. Weatherbee has been appointed business unit president of ATI Metalworking Products, Nashville. Weatherbee joins the Allegheny Technologies company after a 29-year career with Alcoa, where he was most recently vice president, market strategy.
