Brass Imports, Exports
Increase by Double Digits
U.S. imports and exports of brass mill products both saw double-digit percentage increases in June compared with the corresponding 2009 period, according to the latest report from the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council, Washington, D.C.
Imports of brass mill products in June totaled 41,699,101 pounds, up 16.5 percent compared to 35,794,970 in June 2009. Exports totaled 20,590,721 pounds in June, up 13.0 percent from 18,223,779 last year.
Canada was the leading destination for U.S. exports of brass mill products in June at 6,732,209 pounds, followed by Mexico at 6,265,905 pounds, China at 2,151,610 pounds, Hong Kong at 628,121 pounds and Taiwan at 439,674 pounds.
June imports from Germany totaled 9,426,221 pounds, followed by Mexico at 7,055,626 pounds, South Korea at 4,542,988 pounds, Canada at 3,399,429 pounds and China at 2,960,877 pounds.
Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 14,002,876 pounds, while exports of those products totaled 8,850,104 pounds.
Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 14,777,313 pounds, while pipe and tube exports totaled 4,647,175 pounds.
Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 10,158,133 pounds, while exports totaled 4,815,980 pounds.
Imports of copper alloy wire totaled 2,760,779 pounds, while exports totaled 2,277,462 pounds.
