Horizon Acquires MC Steel

Horizon Steel has announced an expansion of its Illinois operations through the acquisition of the former MC Steel Co.’s equipment and facility in Wheeling, Ill.

In addition to a 72-inch cut-to-length line, a 24-inch slitting line with deburring capabilities, a sheared blanking line and a second edge-conditioning line, Horizon has added a 72-inch, 0.250-gauge Red Bud slitter with an in-line corrective leveler.

“This exciting opportunity allows us to enhance our customer service while increasing our processing capabilities,” says Rick Nicolay, president of Horizon Steel.

Horizon Steel is a flat-rolled steel provider to the automotive, appliance, agricultural and construction industries and carries a full line of carbon steel products, including hot- rolled, cold-rolled, coated products and advance high-strength steels. Since 1983, Horizon has provided prime, high-quality and difficult-to-find materials throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
