Through the combination, Siskin-Good Metals will sell the tool steel products that Good Metals has been delivering to the automotive industry in Michigan since 1947. Company officials say Siskin-Good’s expansive plate and bar inventory can quickly supply the needs of tool and die makers and distribution markets from the Chattanooga facility.
“They’ve decided there was a need for that in the area and it would be a really good fit,” says Kim Feazle, director of investor relations for Reliance Steel and Aluminum Co. Both companies are subsidiaries of Reliance.
Good Metals is one of a handful of companies that can take raw mill plate and convert it into pre-finished plate and flat bar products, officials say. Good Metals and Siskin Steel will continue to conduct business separately with no changes to their operations.
