CBFC: Brass Mill Imports, Exports Up in June

U.S. imports and exports of brass mill products rose in June 2011, compared with the corresponding 2010 period, reports the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council, Washington, D.C.

Imports of brass mill products in June totaled 45,629,054 pounds, compared to 41,699,101 in June 2010, an increase of 9.4 percent. Exports totaled 21,177,983 pounds in June, up from 20,590,721 in June 2010, a 2.8 percent increase.

For the year to date, imports of brass mill products totaled 245,460,903 pounds, compared

to 243,307,663 pounds through the first six months of 2010, an increase of 0.9 percent. Exports for year-to-date 2011 totaled 120,456,330, compared to 118,907,896 in the same 2010 period, an increase of 1.3 percent.

Canada was the leading destination for U.S. exports of brass mill products in June at 7,791,277 pounds, followed by Mexico at 7,214,825 pounds, China at 877,316 pounds, Saudi Arabia at 575,972 pounds and Hong Kong at 558,511 pounds.

Imports from Germany in June 2011 totaled 9,081,241 pounds, followed by South Korea at 5,565,376 pounds, Mexico at 5,335,467 pounds, China at 4,932,662 pounds and Canada at 3,312,193 pounds.

Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 13,732,204 pounds while exports of those products totaled 7,789,361 pounds. Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 16,457,943 pounds while pipe and tube exports totaled 6,509,902 pounds.
