FerrouSouth Claims ‘World’s Largest Stretcher Leveler’ in Mississippi
FerrouSouth is installing what it claims will be the “world’s largest stretcher leveler” at its Iuka, Miss., processing center. The line, dubbed “The Eliminator,” has the ability to eliminate internal stresses and flatten steel sheets up to one-half inch by 96 inches, with 2,200 tons of stretching force.
The stretcher leveler will be installed in-line with a Herr Voss precision leveler. The combination of one of the most powerful Herr Voss leveling lines in the country with the most powerful stretcher line will allow FerrouSouth to offer flat, memory free steel to the southern U.S., the company claims.
The new equipment should be operational in early 2012 and will complement the company’s light- and heavy-gauge slitting and cut-to length toll processing services.
“We work very hard at meeting our customers’ needs and controlling costs,” says Eduardo Gonzalez, president of parent company Ferragon Corp. in Cleveland. “The new equipment is state-of-the-art and will give FerrouSouth a significant cost and service advantage.”
