Gordon Bros. Opening Gary Facility
Gordon Bros. Steel Warehouse, Chicago, will open its second facility in Gary, Ind., in the second quarter of 2012. The Gary facility will be the fourth, and largest, expansion project in the company’s 101-year history.
The company is making the move to provide greater warehouse space and streamline order fulfillment. The 60,000-square-foot warehouse is more than twice the size of the company’s existing location in Chicago. “This will enable us to reorganize and have the efficiencies we need,” says Bob Decker, sales manager.
The new facility will feature a drive-through structure with 100-foot crane bays and 25-ton cranes, rail capabilities, a modern bandsaw line, a high-definition plasma-cutting machine and a new CNC shear. It will be located at 1701 Fulton Street in Gary, near the Indiana Toll Road and Interstate 80/94.
