ASD Names Vitucci its Steel Man of the Year

Dominic Vitucci, Jr., president of Vitco Steel Supply Corp., has been named Steel Man of the Year by the Association of Steel Distributors, Chicago. The annual ASD award honors one individual who “embodies leadership, dedication, service and excellence in the steel industry.”

Vitco Steel was established in 1971 by Dominic Vitucci, Sr., out of the basement of his home. The small business eventually flourished, prompting him to move to an 8,000-square-foot warehouse in Chicago and then to the 40,000-square-foot heated warehouse in Dixmoor, Ill., where the business is located today. Vitco Steel specializes in narrow slitting, cut-to-length and shearing of low carbon steel and is ISO 9001:2008 certified.

“The Vitucci family has been long-time supporters of ASD. After his father’s passing, Dominic Jr. became an active member of the ASD Board of Directors, serving as a member of the board since 1997 and becoming president in 2006,” says ASD Executive Director Ron Pietrzak. “Dominic Jr. is a strong industry leader with a passion for the next generation. During his tenure as president, he focused on bringing in the next generation of leaders as active members of ASD with the formation of the ASD Future Leaders Organization.”

Vitucci says his major accomplishments have been leading the family business and doubling its customer base, while continuing to build on the quality and on-time delivery accomplishments of ISO certification.

He will be officially recognized at a black-tie event at the upcoming ASD Annual Convention on April 2 at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort in Miami.
