CBFC: Brass Mill Imports, Exports Up in January

U.S. imports and exports of brass mill products rose in January. Brass mill imports totaled 37,088,491 pounds, up from 36,948,510 in January 2010, an increase of 0.4 percent. Exports totaled 17,687,288 pounds, up 2.9 percent from 17,185,351 a year ago.

Canada was the leading destination for U.S. exports of brass mill products in January at 6,216,480 pounds, followed by Mexico at 5,644,556 pounds, China at 1,235,941 pounds, South Korea at 631,426 pounds and Germany at 358,854 pounds.

Imports from Germany totaled 6,594,256 pounds in January, followed by South Korea at 4,850,448 pounds, Mexico at 3,756,200 pounds, Canada at 3,749,070 pounds and China at 2,689,859 pounds.

Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 11,055,547 pounds, while exports of those products totaled 7,189,957 pounds. Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 12,812,924 pounds, while pipe and tube exports totaled 4,492,790 pounds. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 10,395,619 pounds, while exports totaled 4,465,213 pounds. Imports of copper alloy wire totaled 2,824,401 pounds, while exports totaled 1,539,329 pounds.
