Butech Bliss Building Hydraulic Roller Levelers
Butech Bliss, Salem, Ohio, is currently designing and manufacturing hydraulic roller levelers for leveling hot and cold plate up to 3 inches thick.

The large plate levelers, up to 30 feet in height when completed, make use of a cassette system that allows work rolls of various diameters to be interchanged for the purpose of covering the widest possible range of plate thickness using one leveler.

Red Bud Improves Stretcher Leveler
Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, Ill., has upgraded its stretcher leveler to be used in conjunction with the company’s cut-to-length, blanking and multi-blanking systems.

By applying nearly four million pounds of stretching force, this redesigned stretcher leveler equalizes the stress in a strip by elongating the material lengthwise, enough to exceed the yield point in all the fibers top to bottom and edge to edge. Red Bud claims this produces the flattest, most stable material possible for laser cutting, notching, punching or shearing, virtually independent of incoming strip shape and severity. The stretcher leveler is designed to function as a more economical replacement for a temper mill. The new unit is also easier to learn and operate than most other types of levelers, the company says.

Leveler Offers CNC Precision
Herr-Voss Stamco now offers the Precision Leveler Plus, which contains traditional leveler features plus features such as CNC precision machine tool accuracy by ball screw actuators. The unit monitors and compensates for machine stretch; has automatic repeatable calibration backed by an easy, menu-driven procedure; user-friendly touch-screen controls; and its trademarked “punch and go” set-up. This CNC leveler combines precision roll positioning and automation with menu-driven screens. The company installed one such leveler for a processor of stainless steel. The customer required a 72-inch-wide leveler that handles material from 0.018- to 0.105-inch, in a six-high roll configuration. Yield strength is up to 60,000 pounds per square inch at a maximum line speed of 250 feet per minute.

Narrow Profile Leveler
Can Be Retrofit in Small Space

Machine Concepts has designed and built a very narrow profile shape-correction leveler that fits into existing lines with little space available. The leveler is a pull-through design for a coil-to-coil process running material 72 inches wide, but only takes 27 inches of space in the line. The leveler still maintains Machine Concepts’ standard features such as removable cassette, and zero backlash hanging module. The leveler has: 20 1.25-inch work rolls, 10 adjustable flights, pop-open feature for bypass mode, automatic set-up based on material parameters, as well as other features. The leveler is also configured to accept Machine Concept’s patented AutoFlat automatic shape correction system.
