Two Tools From Trumpf
Remove Manual Deburring Step
Trumpf, Farmington, Conn., has introduced two new tools for producing sheet metal parts that come out of the punching machine burr-free. By employing the new roller deburring tool and the deburring multi-tool, a separate manual deburring stage is no longer necessary, the company claims.
Both tools displace any burr by chamfering the sharp edges about 0.004-inch on the underside of the part. In forming coated sheets and parts, these tools significantly reduce throughput times. Both tools are suitable for punching sheet thicknesses of up to 0.10-inch in steel, stainless steel and aluminum, according to Trumpf.

New Advanced Feed System from Scotchman
Scotchman Industries, Philip, S.D., offers a new Advanced Feed System that it says allows companies to increase productivity, decrease set-up time, reduce operator error and eliminate waste. The Advanced Feed System, coupled with a Scotchman circular cold saw, turns a semi-automatic machine into a fully automated production machine. The operator simply enters cut lists into the controller, secures the material in the indexing clamp and hits start. The Advanced Feed System automatically moves the material to position, clamps the material and cycles the machine, the company says.
Operators can manually enter dimensions into the controller or pull a cut list from the controller, powered by TigerStop, which stores up to 99 programs. Another option is downloading cut list information directly from a PC, reducing the chance of operator error.
The Scotchman Advanced Feed System can be used as a programmable stop system or a fully automatic programmable push feed system with the optional material clamp. Use of optional optimizing software helps reduce scrap.

Edge-Cut
Performs Single,
Double V-Groove Beveling
Koike Aronson, Arcade, N.Y., introduces a new oxyfuel cutting machine,
the Edge-Cut, which performs single or double V-groove beveling on a plate
edge without the need for track or rails. The track required by previous
machines was an added expense and difficult to set up.
The Edge-Cut
performs the V-grooves essential to full penetration welds with just one
pass. Edge-Cut bevels the plate edge top and bottom up to 45 degrees.
Ease of setup and constant speed ensure high-quality cutting, even during
long-distance cuts, the company says.
The highly
portable Edge-Cut weighs only 26 pounds and can be used with a 6-foot
extendable track for more conventional cutting. The machine can also be
adapted to cut circles while beveling.

Tube
Bending Machine
Avoids Manual Setup
The CNC tube-bending machines of Lang Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG,
Michelstadt, Germany, feature electrical servo-drives on all axes and
are available as single or multi stack versions. Since all axes are precisely
controlled in their travel movement and pressure, and because the data
are stored together with the tool data, manual set-up actions can now
be avoided to a large extent, reducing the duration of run-in procedures
after a tool change, the company claims. Also minimized are the production
cycle times, because by using AC servo-drives, higher travel speed is
achieved.

Swing-Beam
Shears
Utilize CNC Controls
Knuth USAs KHT 3206-C hydraulic swing-beam shears feature CNC controls
operated through a 5.7-inch LCD touch-screen display. Once operators enter
parameters such as work-piece length, width and thickness using the touch
screen, the KHT 3206-C automatically adjusts machining settings, including
blade gap adjustment, back gauge setting, length of stroke and number
of cuts. It should help achieve highly efficient production of precisely
cut blanks with clean, square edges and minimal bow twist or camber. For
faster stroke rates, to accommodate smaller blanks, the operator simply
adjusts stroke length on the screen, and the beam cycles at a faster rate.
The screen also allows faster positioning of the heavy-duty back gauge
and accurate adjustment of the blade gap. Up to 10 job steps can be stored
on the controller. The KHT 3206-C unit can shear plates up to ¼-inch
thick and cut lengths of up to 126 inches. Knuth also makes shears capable
of cutting plates up to ½-inch thick and 12 feet long.
