Tape Provides Accurate
Diameter Measurement

Precision diameter-measurement tapes from Pi Tape Corp., Escondido, Calif., are engraved and acid etched on a ground surface in temperature-controlled facilities. The gauges have a fixed reading and are available in either inches or millimeters. Standard tapes read up to 144 inches (3600mm) in 0.001-inch increment with accuracy of plus/minus 0.001 inch (0.01mm). The Pi Tape product line includes direct outside and inside diameter-measuring tapes, go/no-go tapes, linear tapes and O-ring tapes. Tapes can be custom manufactured with special widths, lengths and markings. Stainless steel tapes are available for use in corrosive environments.

Flexform Containers Protect Metals Products
Industrial Pack offers Flexform shipping containers, a high-strength durable packaging system meant for stainless steel, aluminum and red metals bar and tube products. The material is moisture and abrasion resistant and corrosion inhibitive. Flexform containers take less than five minutes to assemble, have strength ratings comparable to wood, offer superior beam strength for long flexible items, and the package is puncture resistant. With Flexform, metals shippers can create containers, edge protectors, corner posts, pallet caps and coil ID or OD protectors. The Flexform can replace weaker spiral-wound tube packaging and eliminate the use of heavy wooden crates. Flexforms are available in sheet form, with or without folding panels sized to customer specifications. Sheet sizes are between 15 and 42 inches wide at continuous lengths. Industrial Pack can also custom-print packaging with the shippers’ name, logo, advertising message, bar code, handling instructions, etc., at minimal extra cost.

Extended-Length Container For Hard-to-Fit Parts
Linpac Materials Handling now offers ROPAK 65, an extended-length reusable, collapsible container designed to handle long and hard-to-fit parts. It has a 64.5-inch by 48-inch footprint, and the design is improved for greater handling flexibility. The container features a one-piece base with a bolted-in steel strap for high rigidity and strength, and is available in six heights from 19 to 50 inches. Maximum capacity is 2,000 lbs. Containers can be stacked up to five high without racking, either upright or collapsed.
All versions, except the 19-inch model, have non-sequential folding sidewalls, allowing the container to collapse to a fraction of its height for more compact storage and shipping when empty. Sidewalls are secured by universal latches, operated from outside or inside the container. Several configurations allow users to specify hinged drop doors in up to all four sides of the container for easier access to contents.

Water-Based PicoGuard
Protects Steel from Rust

PICO Chemical Corp. has developed PicoGuard 17650, an environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitor that will save steel users money by eliminating the downgrading or scrapping of rusted parts. This water-dilutable chemical is oil- and solvent-free but meets requirements for indoor protection of steel, nonferrous metals and machinery from humidity laden air. PicoGuard 17650 adapts to in-process applications, has no flash point and provides metal manufacturers and metal processors with a safer method for protecting metals. PicoGuard mixes with water, typically at concentrations from 5 to 25 percent, depending on the length of protection required. It can be applied by spray or immersion at room temperature in metal or plastic tanks and may be air-dried to extend protection times. Nitrite-free, the solution contains no heavy metals or wax, cleans easily without leaving tacky residues. After using PicoGuard 17650, processors may weld or paint over the film to produce good integral bonding.

Master Chemical Has New Rust Fighters
Master Chemical Corp. has created a new series of low VOC, nitrate-free, water-based rust inhibitors. The series includes four new cleaners with built-in synthetic rust preventatives. All perform equal to oil/solvent systems. Trim Nocor RPs and built-in synthetic RP cleaners have no solvent fumes or odors, are not flammable and wash off easily with mild detergents. The series includes low-cost, short-term synthetics; long-term emulsions; and one-step cleaner/rust inhibitors for steel, cast iron and yellow metals. The cleaners are effective at 4 to 12 percent and provides three to six months of indoor protection. Nocor E6 contains no boron or barium and can be used as a spray for in-process protection or before packaging. Nocor S-1 is a low-foam synthetic water-soluble ferrous corrosion inhibitor that leaves a thin transparent film that’s easily removed and won’t interfere with machining, gauging or assembly. Nocor S2 is a synthetic water-soluble version meant for short-term, in-process protection. Its main uses are in rinse stages of spray washers.
